More about the project

Starting point

Reports have to be correct, on time and good enough to decide on. Manual repetition is exactly where time gets lost and mistakes creep in.

My role

Two years as a working student in Business Intelligence at Bosch Power Tools, from 2023 to 2025.

I owned recurring reports, was the contact for the business units behind them and drove the automation of those workflows.

Context and constraints

The work took place in a corporate environment with established systems, fixed reporting cycles and several business units as recipients.

Content, data sources and figures are confidential. This case therefore describes the approach and its effect, not the data itself.

Approach

I first mapped the existing reports and their data sources and identified the steps that repeat every cycle.

With Power BI, Excel and Python I built the reporting, maintained reports for stakeholders and automated the recurring steps.

Concrete results

Recurring reporting processes now run automatically instead of manually, which makes the reports reliably reproducible.

Specific figures and screenshots from the company stay confidential. Happy to share more about the setup and its effect in a conversation.

What stays confidential

Specific figures, data sources, report contents and screenshots stay with the company. I do not show them here or in application material.

I am happy to talk about the setup, the approach and its effect in person, as far as that works without confidential detail.

Learnings

Two years of BI practice show how large organisations decide with data. That experience feeds straight into MAUTZI.

The effort rarely sits in the dashboard, it sits in clean data sources and reliable workflows upstream.

What transfers is the order of work: understand the process first, then automate it. That is how I approach MAUTZI and my thesis too.

Key insight

The greatest value of data is not created in the dashboard, it is created in the reliable processes behind it.
